I am so fortunate to have a job that I love. Design allows me to use my talents each and every day to engage with the world and with so many cool and creative people. Sometimes, it feels like I’ve won the lottery. What gets me most excited is telling client stories that change people’s perceptions. By adding a visual twist or revealing a surprising perspective, great design allows them to discover (or rediscover) your brand, product or service in a whole new way. And isn’t that what engagement really is? I illustrate, animate and shoot stills. I design everything from motion graphics to logos to entire brands. I also direct junior designers, animators and DPs.

This is a redesign for the Boston Celtics’ stadium graphics. The work includes motion graphics for the jumbotron, interior monitors and the 'ribbon' animations that circle the court. Memorable direction from the client: "...it can't be TOO CRAZY". What designer doesn’t love to hear that?
I have designed many broadcast show packages. Katie Couric's day time show was a continuation of a creative relationship we had forged when we designed the CBS Evening News.
Katie's beautiful show logo was designed by Jean McCarvill.
Ask This Old House was such a fun project. The crew that make the show were such a pleasure to work with and was a thrill to work on a national brand.
Direxion is a financial products company known for its ETFs. They distinguish themselves from the competition by taking a less expected approach to finance-related marketing. This example is part of a playful series of pre-roll animations.
This is one image in a series that was pitched to 'Flippr' a local company that had produced a new type of floor sweeper. It was to be social campaign. They asked for an... 'unconventional' approach. This didn't make the final presentation, but I still liked it.
Show design is something else I do. This image is from a series for WGBH called ‘Market Warriors’ – a competitive game show for treasure hunters.
The illustration at the top of the page and the one to the right are from an animated short I illustrated for a large financial company. The theme is safety as it relates to rolling over your 401K into a managed IRA.
I'm from Ireland, I came to the US to be an artist. I still draw and paint, but animation and design has allowed me to do that and so much more. I’m an avid wind-surfer, ice hockey player and love nothing better than a challenge. In the words of the immortal Muhammad Ali, “Impossible is not a fact; it’s an opinion.”
